The Construye 2020+ partnership addresses the eco-training of professionals and SMEs

The Construye 2020+ partnership met on November 13th for the sixth time to learn about the status of the project, discuss possible adjustments and prepare the next steps aimed at addressing the eco-training of workers in the sector, to achieve a sustainable and environmentally friendly construction.

Representatives of Fundación Laboral de la Construcción, Instituto de Ciencias de la Construcción Eduardo Torroja at CSIC,  Fundación Estatal para la Formación en el Empleo (Fundae), Instituto Nacional de las Cualificaciones (Incual) beloging to Ministerio de Educación, Cultura y Deporte, Centro de Investigación de Recursos y Consumos Energéticos (Circe) and Instituto de Robótica y Tecnologías de la Información y la Comunicación (IRTIC) at Valencia Univerity, have met by videoconference to address the current status of the project and address the mismatches produced by the Covid-19.

During the virtual meeting, we have presented the Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) for SMEs and sectoral workers in the area of sustainable construction. This platform was technologically developed by Irtic with the support and coordination of Fundación Laboral, and the supervision of the consortium. This training aims to address the needs of updating professional profiles ‘eco’, so that they can meet the qualification requirements demanded by the current labor market.

In this sense, the creation of a ‘Green Tag’ was discussed, which recognises the ‘eco’ skills of workers as a system of accreditation of their skills in specific areas of construction, such as: energy efficiency, renewable energy systems and nearly zero energy buildings.

During the meeting, the consortium endorsed the need to achieve sustainable and environmentally friendly building, as the main goal to be addressed during the last months of the partnership. To this end, according to the current crisis situation, caused by Coronavirus, some proposals were presented to replace the Construye 2020+ Route, betting on approaches that respect safety distances and ensure the public welfare.
